Wood Renewable and recyclable raw material

Wood is M-real’s most important raw material. Annually, we use some 12 million cubic meters of wood all coming from sustainably managed commercial forests in and outside Finland and presently, two thirds from PEFC or FSC certified forests. Most of our domestic wood raw material comes from the forests of Metsäliitto Cooperative’s owner-members.

We only use wood that is managed and procured responsibly and by local legislation. None of the wood comes from protected areas such as ecologically valuable old-growth forests or illegal sources. Our wood procurement is conducted by the parent company Metsäliitto Cooperative. M-real does not have any forest of its own.
