Metsäliitto Group utilise its wood raw material to the full. In addition to its subsidiaries’ products, the various production processes yield co-products which are valuable raw material for other industrial branches.
The logs are utilised in the group’s sawmills. The sawmill industry’s co-products, wood chips and sawdust, are supplied to the pulp and board industry as raw material for pulp. They are also utilised for soil improvement and sawdust running tracks, for example.
Pulp wood is utilised in the group’s pulp and paper mills as raw material for pulp, board and paper.
Harvesting residues, black liquor and wood bark are incinerated to produce bio-energy for the production processes and the surrounding communities. The wood-based products produced by Metsäliitto Group can be reused and recycled and burnt as energy at the end of their life-cycle.
