M-real applies the Metsäliitto Group’s Human Resources policies and procedures and uses HR systems and various reporting processes to support systematic HR management. Personnel plans include actions to ensure competence development, occupational safety and well-being and other preconditions for success of the current employees.
At the end of 2010, M-real employed 4,538 people; approximately one third worked in Finland. Wages and salaries amounted to EUR 209 million.
Special support such as re-allocation training and job-seeking assistance was provided for those employees undergoing or facing potential redundancy due to the company’s profit improvement and business concept simplification programmes.
